Paramore Controversy Persists: ALTer Ego Fest Removes Them, Replacement Announced

Paramore has withdrawn from their scheduled performance at iHeartRadio’s ALTer Ego festival. This decision came in the wake of the band clearing their social media accounts and official website, sparking speculation among fans.

The cancellation was announced on Instagram Stories: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Paramore can no longer attend and perform at iHeartRadio ALTer EGO on January 13. The band apologizes for any inconvenience.”

Who Will Take Their Place?

Following Paramore’s withdrawal, iHeartRadio swiftly secured another rock group to fill the void. Fall Out Boy will now grace the stage in Los Angeles on January 13. The ‘Centuries’ band revealed the news on X with a poster and a message: “Surprise! We’re hitting the iHeartRadio ALTer Ego stage on January 13th; see ya there!”

Uncertain Future for Paramore

All of this unfolded as Paramore members conveyed uncertainty about their future after concluding their contract with Atlantic Records with the release of their latest album, ‘This Is Why.’ They elaborated further on their situation in a statement on Instagram Stories last month:

“Now that Paramore has spent the year touring behind ‘This Is Why’ (and making sure to take better care of themselves while they’re at it), a chapter of the band’s career has come to a close. They’ve now fulfilled all label obligations and are effectively free agents. As for the future of Paramore, all three members agreed that there’s a level of uncertainty.”

Despite the uncertainties about their future, the band has slated appearances from May to July 2024, where they will open for Taylor Swift on the European leg of her ‘Eras’ tour.
