Paramore has made a resounding return by contributing to a Talking Heads tribute album, following a social media cleanse. Last month, the trio—comprising Hayley Williams, guitarist Taylor York, and drummer Zac Farro—wiped their social media pages and displayed a 404 error message on their official website, expressing uncertainty about their future. Speculation heightened when they withdrew from the ALTer Ego Festival, but recent announcements suggest Paramore is gearing up for a new era and a fresh record deal.
The trio reemerged on Instagram, sharing a teaser for their cover of Talking Heads’ “Burning Down The House” from an upcoming tribute album. The clip features Hayley Williams receiving a package with David Byrne’s iconic suit from ‘Stop Making Sense,’ the band’s concert film. Williams pulls out a tape from a boombox, echoing Byrne’s introduction in the film. Paramore’s cover is the first track on ‘A Stop Making Sense: A Tribute Album,’ set to include 16 artists covering the album’s 16 songs. The release date is yet to be announced but will be under A24 music.
In 2023, Talking Heads’ ‘Stop Making Sense’ concert film was remastered in 4k by A24 for its 40th anniversary. The new wave legends reunited for a Q&A at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, marking their first public appearance in over 20 years.
Concerns about a possible breakup arose when Paramore wiped their social media presence, but the band clarified they have no plans to quit. They seek a fresh start online after parting ways with Atlantic record label. ‘This Is Why’ marked their final album with the label, and it’s uncertain whether they will sign a new record deal or remain independent. In a five-star review, NME praised ‘This Is Why,’ noting Paramore’s evolution toward a new warmth. Additionally, the band will be the main support act for Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ in Europe in May
