See ‘Aquaman’ Star Jason Momoa Become Kratos For ‘God Of War’ Series

A new concept design imagines Aquaman star Jason Momoa as Kratos for Amazon’s God of War series.

Jason Momoa broke onto the scene for his memorable work as Khal Drogo in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones. Following his turn as Drogo, Momoa was cast as Arthur Curry AKA Aquaman in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and later had an expanded role in Justice League as well as his own standalone film. Momoa has since become a fan-favorite genre actor, and with the news of a God of War series, some think he’d make a great Kratos.

A new image from Instagram user “rahalarts” depicts Jason Momoa jumping from his role as Aquaman to that of Kratos in God of War. As you can see, Momoa certainly looks the part, and maybe he can fit the series in when he’s not busy with the DC Universe or other projects.

Amazon recently gave a straight-to-series order to a live-action adaptation of Santa Monica Studio’s God of War games for its streaming service Prime Video. Rafe Judkins (The Wheel of Time) has been tapped to serve as showrunner on the adaptation, working from scripts by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, who are also executive producing. Santa Monica Studio’s creative director Cory Barlog is also executive producing the upcoming series alongside Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Yumi Yang, Roy Lee. Jeff Ketcham serves as a co-executive producer on the project.

A joint venture between between Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios in association with PlayStation Productions, God of War is set to premiere in more than 240 countries and territories across the globe. The announcement comes a few days after the release of Santa Monica Studio’s God of War Ragnarök, the fastest-selling first party launch game in PlayStation history.

The storyline of the God of War series
God Of War follows the story of Kratos, a spartan warrior who made a pact with the Greek god of war, Ares. Before being killed off by an enemy, Ares gave Kratos the power of the Blades of Chaos to vanquish almost anyone who stood in his way in the name of the gods. After finding out that Ares lied to him, leading him to kill his own wife and daughter, Kratos went on a rampage to enact revenge on all of Olympus.

After realizing that Zeus was his father and wanted to kill him as well, Kratos ended up butchering him and fleeing to the Nordic region. Santa Monica Studio’s God Of War games pit Kratos against Norse foes while he journeys to spread his late new wife’s ashes with his son, Atreus.
