Taylor Swift and Joe Keery: A Potential Rock Collaboration

During a recent appearance on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Joe Keery, known for his role in Stranger Things, addressed rumors of a potential rock collaboration with Taylor Swift.

Fallon brought up hearing about Keery recording new music at Electric Lady Studios with his project, Djo. He then inquired whether both Keery and Swift were present in the studio simultaneously, suggesting a joint project. Keery responded:

“Well, it was quite a perplexing day because I was just there with John [Rooney], doing my thing, not up to anything special. When I walked out the door, suddenly there were like a thousand people standing there. They were expecting Taylor, and some were looking at me like, ‘Who’s this guy?'”

Identity Mix-up Beyond the Studio Doors

The host intervened, stating, “No, no. They recognize you.” Joe went on to share the crowd’s response: “No, really, really. As I walked down the block, someone said, ‘Hey, that’s—Oh, that’s that guy.’ And then a few people started walking down.”

Hinting at a Potential Collaboration Down the Line

Fallon chimed in with a playful remark to elicit information about the potential collaboration: “So, we can’t spill the beans.” The actor responded, keeping the possibility of a joint effort open: “Perhaps that could spark something. Maybe that experience set something in motion in the universe, but I’m not sure. We’ll have to wait and see.”

Keery Discusses Striking a Balance Between Music and Acting Careers

Known as Djo in the music realm, Joe Keery consciously keeps this facet of his life distinct from his everyday persona and acting roles. In a conversation with Billboard last year, he pondered the experience of embodying this alternative image:

“There’s a certain comfort in embracing this different identity, where I feel more liberated to express myself freely. I think about icons like David Bowie or Marc Bolan who embraced dressing up. Devo is another excellent example. What initially began with that intention has opened up a door for me to realize it can be more than just that.”

Embarking on his musical journey in his early twenties under the moniker ‘Cool Cool Cool,’ Joe was part of the Chicago band Post Animal. Despite contributing to their albums, he eventually departed due to his acting commitments in Stranger Things. Undeterred, Keery continued his musical pursuits as Djo, unveiling singles and his acclaimed album ‘Twenty Twenty,’ establishing himself in the music industry.
