The iconic Christmas tune “Fairytale of New York” by The Pogues is set to hit the shelves soon in a special 7-inch vinyl release. All proceeds from the sales will be directed towards Dublin Simon Community, a charity strongly endorsed by Shane MacGowan and his widow, Victoria Mary Clarke.
As per the band’s statement, reported by NME, the release of the single aims to “celebrate the man himself” while also fundraising for the Dublin charity. The additional goal is to propel the single to the coveted No. 1 spot on the charts, a feat it has yet to achieve. The vinyl will feature “Fairytale of New York” on the A-side and an instrumental version on the B-side. Pre-orders for the record can be placed here, with £6 from each sale contributing to the charitable cause.
