Vin Diesel Hypes Fast X Trailer With a Photo of Dom Back in the Auto Shop

Vin Diesel has shared a new photo of Dominic Toretto from Fast X along with the news that the film’s first trailer will launch in February.

The Fast and Furious frontman shared the photo on Instagram with the caption, “Trailer launch next month… #FastX.” Diesel previously teased the arrival of the film’s first trailer at the end of December 2022 with a photo of himself hugging co-star Jordana Brewster, who plays Dom’s sister Mia Toretto in the long-running action franchise. In that post, the actor said the trailer was less than two months away, which is consistent with his latest update.

Promoted as the penultimate entry in The Fast Saga, it has been a long and tumultuous road for Fast X. In April 2022, longtime franchise director Justin Lin, who shepherded the series’ third, fourth, fifth, sixth and ninth installments, left the project unexpectedly. Sources close to the production later attributed Lin’s abrupt exit to his ongoing clashes with Diesel. According to these sources, the pair’s final meeting ended with Lin slamming the door after saying, “This movie is not worth my mental health.”

The Incredible Hulk and Clash of the Titans’ Louis Leterrier has taken over directing duties, while Lin remains attached as a producer and screenwriter. Since then, the film’s production spend has ballooned to $340 million, 70% higher than F9’s $200 million budget, making it the fifth-most expensive movie in history. The increased cost is due to improved salaries for Diesel and his fellow castmates, inflation and pandemic testing requirements.

The Fast Family Continues to Grow

Dom Toretto’s latest on-and-off-road adventure sees the return of several franchise players in addition to a host of new characters. Familiar faces include series mainstays like Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel and Sung Kang. Returning from hiatus are Jason Statham and Scott Eastwood, while new additions include Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, Alan Ritchson, Cardi B and Rita Moreno. Heavy-hitters like Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren and John Cena are also expected to return.

A recent report also claims that Gal Gadot’s Gisele Yashar will return following her death in Fast & Furious 6. This would not be the first time a fan-favorite character has returned from the dead in the Fast franchise. Sung Kung’s Han Lue, who maintained a romantic relationship with Gadot’s character prior to her death, recently returned to the series in F9 after faking his demise in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

Fast X is expected to bring Dom Toretto and his ever-growing family back to theaters on May 19.
